How to decorate your Christmas table

Dining on Christmas Eve or having lunch with your family for Christmas are the most expected moments of the Christmas holidays. You do your best trying to be the perfect host and that’s why you cook the most delicious meals.

Don’t forget that besides the food you serve, the manner in which you serve it has also an extremely important part. Be careful not to fall into extremes, this is the greatest danger when it comes to decorations. Don’t use too many colors, don’t overload the table, you still need to have room for the food!

Using three colors is the best choice. You can go for the red-white-gold combination, the red-green one, the red-white one and so on. For example you can use a red and gold tablecloth, white plates that have a golden line and red napkins. Even though you’re not catholic you can still add a little advent wrath with four candles to the table, it will look extremely well. If you have a smaller table and the wrath doesn’t fit, you can place a couple of fir tree branches on the corners of your table and pin them to the tablecloth.

You can also put a little mistletoe branch in a vase and place it on the table. The dishes and cutlery are very important. Use stainless steel cutlery which you have previously polished, and china or ceramic dishes. Do not use plastic or metallic plates what so ever.

Regarding glass and cutlery placement, they are to be arranged as follows:

The glasses are to be placed from right to left in the order that the liquors are to be served, the cutlery will be placed in the same manner, from the outside towards the inside depending on the order they’ll be used. The knife and spoon are always to be placed on the right side, while the fork is to be placed on the left side. The cutting edge of the knife will always be facing towards the inside, while the napkins, if they’re made of fabric, will be placed on the dishes.
In the end, the decoration, food and cheerful attitude have to harmoniously combine so that the Christmas table be as pleasant as possible.
